Become Who You Want, Not Who You Think You Should Be

How do you become who you WANT to become, not who you think you NEED to become? It’s the very essence of becoming your true self and attaining awesome authenticity. I believe that you need to:

Understand Your Own Truth – Being authentic means knowing who you are from the heart. Every word thought, feeling and action you project toward others become your truth. As we gain the understanding of our own truth and develop the conscious awareness of who we really are, our life becomes one of peace, joy, love, freedom, gratitude, and abundance. It’s a much easier and much nicer way to live.

Understand Who the Real You Is – Explore your hidden fears, doubts and worries and allow the real you to be seen. Your higher self-needs to develop from every single fibre to have the opportunity to appear. By suppressing the real you, you are limiting yourself from advancing further in not only your business but your personal life, too.

Ask yourself what your unique passion, values, visions, talents, and abilities are and don’t be afraid to explore deep. If you’re not sure, ask someone you know to get started. Ask them what they see your talent to be. You will instantly know within yourself if they are right or not.

If you are told your talent is in teaching, and you agree, ask yourself some more probing questions to help gain clarity. Does teaching align with your vision of where you want to be in business? Are you passionate about teaching? Does it fit within your value system? Do you have credibility as a teacher? Does it fit your PURPOSE?

Understand Your Real Purpose – To build awesome authenticity, you need to know why you are here on this earth. What do you believe your sole purpose is to do in life? If you can’t answer this instantly, you need to explore and find out your purpose. If you struggle to do this on your own, find a mentor or coach who can help you unpack your true purpose.

I have had many, many discussions with clients over the years, helping them discover what their true purpose is. And once they discover what their purpose for being here is, they are able to surge forward on the path they are meant to take. Countless times I have asked the question, “What do you want people to say about you when you die and your name is mentioned?”

What would you like to be remembered for? Are you making the most of your life’s purpose and living it as you are meant to? Take a minute to think about this and be authentic when you answer. Once you can answer yourself truthfully and from deep within you, you are on the way to becoming authentic, and achieving awesome authenticity in every aspect of your life.

Trust in business, especially small business, is a vital ingredient for survival.

Trust is at the heart of our everyday interactions, and central to the machine that fuels business. In business relationships, such as the relationship between a business owner and their clients OR an employer and their employees, trust breeds productivity. For employers, the more they trust their employees, the more the employee feels empowered and more inclined to naturally act in the interest of the business.

When trust exists in a business or in a relationship, almost everything else is easier and more comfortable to achieve. Individually though, we perceive trust differently dependent on our own experiences.

I am not sure what happened to this last year but it has gone so fast. Have you started to consider what you want from your life and business in the future?

As we tend to think about goal setting around end of the year holidays, we can do it anytime in reality. Have you taken the time, thought and written plans to proceed in the future?

For a lot of people, a new year means a time to re-evaluate their lives and think of a new goal.

Some are planning to lose weight, some to buy a new car or even a new house. Some are also planning to travel the world. But have you ever considered a long-term goal that would totally change your life as part of your future goals?

Setting your goals can be at any time. Are you prepared? Do you have a powerful process to take you forward?

Now is a time to re-assess not only your life but your business too (if you have one). Can you create your ideal future, by motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future to this reality?

Understanding YOUR SELF and Others For Better Business MasterMinding

The most important thing for us all to understand is what makes us who we are. This is something that is important in a business mastermind group if we are to grow with a team of people around us.

By understanding how you ‘tick’ is the beginning of knowing yourself. Only then can you learn why you do the things you do. Through this process you can learn that others are not like you. There will always be things that may be similar, even if you are very different.

If you want to understand how to have a better connection with people you need to start by asking certain questions initially.

How do I ‘think and analyse’ everything in my life?

Why and how do others ‘think and analyse’ things so differently?

We are all different. There is no right or wrong. Black and white thinking instead of having ‘grey thinking’ in our lives is limiting and self-destructive.

Let’s start by looking at how, as individuals, we think and engage.

Some people are technical and analytical, others process oriented and detailed, or maybe people oriented and expressive or big picture and imaginative people.

In all these there are many variances. Do you fit into one or two of these?

We do recognise that some people are introverted (they energise themselves and not need people) or extraverted (need people and experiences to be energised). How we respond to others will be dependent on which one they are. People will be a sensor or a visionary and thus be a big picture or little picture person. Sometimes there will be people who combine both successfully for greater outcomes. The way we interact with them will be different too.

All these aspects above need to be taken into consideration, especially if you are putting a mastermind group together, in the hope of accountability and growth for all the members.

I do not believe from my years of experience in creating mastermind groups that it is a ‘hit and miss’ situation if the outcomes for everyone is to be positive. I know this as I learned the hard way initially when I started putting groups together. There are many ‘do’s and ‘don’ts’ to a successful group.

All these basic factors above are good indicators on how we communicate with others, if we want to understand other people. There are many different profiling systems. For me, I combine two to get the results that I require when I put a group together, along with extra tools to help each individual grow to their greater potential.

As we have all had different learnings, as a result of our childhood environment, different cultures, gender, values and beliefs, religions etc we may have a similar profile but be very different in reality. All these are factored into the differences in each of us. We all have our own ‘internal map’ which is our individual blueprint that is created early on in life. As we get older we may recognise that there are things we need to do differently if we want different outcomes. Only through self-understanding can we change these for our own growth and development.

Often in some households we will find that siblings, even though born from the same parents, with the same siblings and views and beliefs, that there can be a vast difference. Often siblings do not even like each other or communicate well. They are unalike in many ways and being family is what keeps them together initially. Sometimes as they grow older this becomes even more apparent and they do not have anything to do with each other, unfortunately. This is because of lack of self-awareness, and understanding that each other do not have to agree on things to get on.

Learning to be non-judgemental and tolerant of others will make the world an easier place to live. If in business you find that you are working with or around people whom you have nothing in common, I urge you to look deeper. Gain understanding by finding the differences in how you can help them and they can support you. If you work towards a win-win, the outcome will surprise you.

It is our opposites who have what it is we need as a small business owner to grow and learn. I have found by putting different personality/thinking styles in a mastermind group together, the outcomes are far greater than one could imagine.

We gravitate to those people whom we like, who are similar to us, without recognising the ones we leave behind could be the most valuable to us in our business.

We all have our own style and our own innate and learned gifts that we bring to our business. There are many other aspects our business needs and these will often be with people who we do not naturally gravitate to. These are the people who will help and support us more than those similar to ourselves.

By understanding how others think and process information we can learn how to interact with all people for everyone’s highest good and benefit.

The POWER of Building Trust in Business with Masterminding

In business, from my experience, I find that TRUST is lacking more than anything else by most people. I find that this is a result of the experiences they themselves have had over time.

Without trust a business can’t grow. The people in it can’t grow and the relationships with clients and customers can’t grow!

According to Merriam-Webster, trust is defined as the “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.”

This makes total sense. We need to know and understand within ourselves that we can trust another, before we go to the next step of relying on another. This comes by learning about them and their character.

I totally understand the saying for many, ‘once bitten, twice shy’ even though for me I am always ready to give that second chance. Learning to understand and give trust can change the attitude in any business. We need to know and prove that we are trustworthy firstly, by showing this in how we live our lives. Once we do this, everything else will naturally follow on from there.

Trust is earned. This can usually take time especially if the people are of different personality styles. We need time to get to know them to see if we resonate with their values and beliefs.

I have found, over my many years of business experience, that if we do not trust others, we need to take a look at ourselves and our own trust issues. Do we trust ourselves? Would be do business with ourselves?

Developing trust outside your own inner circle is something that is often difficult to find. From a business perspective, by joining a Business MasterMind Group you get the opportunity to meet peers on a face-to-face basis. You can then develop trust and gain support that is often lacking in the marketplace. The groups I put together are created with a lot of thought and scrutiny. Find yourself a group that does the same!

I believe that if I pick the participants wisely, a level of trust will be built fast and will become quite significant. This is the reason for the process prior to being accepted into a group. I have to know that I am prepared to work closely with someone for six months, as well as be happy to talk about them and promote them to my contacts.

A referral is a reflection of the person who gave it! If I suggest that two people connect, it is imperative that I KNOW that there will be synergy there, that they have something in common, that they are trustworthy, that their skills support each other and that trust can and will be gained.

Confidentiality for businesses is essential at certain times, especially if the business is creating something new in the marketplace. It can sometimes mean thousands of dollars or maybe millions if confidentiality is not kept. I do suggest to everyone that they use a Confidentiality Agreement when doing business to protect themselves. This needs to be a legal document within Joint Ventures, Partnerships etc.

Our levels of trust in business and with governments globally is declining. If you are looking for some help to gauge trust levels I suggest you look at the Edelman Trust Barometer.

This is an annual global survey, which spotlights trust by country, institution type, business sector and type of person. It also looks at what topics contribute to trust, and how leadership can best embody trust. It is worth taking the time to check this out if you are wanting to monitor businesses and their impact globally on trust. This may be a good indicator to you and how your run your business.

Building trust takes time. In business, often longer. Understanding the importance of confidentiality is vital.

One thing many business owners struggle with is having someone they can talk with in confidence. We need to be able to discuss the important things knowing that we are in a safe space. Pour confidants need to be people who are on a similar wave length. They need to understand the challenges within business.

We live in a world with a global community, as a result of the internet.

Protect yourself, your intellectual property (IP) and your business information (financial etc.). Being protective often makes it harder to find that ‘right’ someone. We all need people who understand our business. These people become our sounding board and are vital to help us move forward.
